Music at
St. Elizabeths

Music is central to life at St. Elizabeth’s, reflecting our rich Anglican tradition and the belief—echoing St. Paul—that it speaks where words cannot. From congregational hymns and choral anthems to Evensong and community concerts, music expresses the heart of our parish identity.

Adult Choir

The Senior Choir at St. Elizabeth’s is a welcoming, volunteer-based ensemble supported by a professional quartet, singing weekly Sunday liturgies, major seasonal services, and special events such as a Lenten Requiem and a December Advent Concert with orchestra. Rehearsing Sundays from September through mid-June (11:45 am–1:15 pm), the Choir embraces a joyful, hardworking spirit, guided by talented section leaders in a supportive, faith-rooted environment. Its diverse repertoire spans from the Middle Ages to the 21st century, and new members—of all experience levels—are welcome year-round without needing to commit every Sunday. We especially encourage young people to participate and experience the joy of timeless music within our close-knit, inclusive choir family.

Children's Choir

Singing helps children internalize the teachings of faith in a joyful, lasting way. At St. Elizabeth’s, our children's choirs—Joyful Noise (Grades K–4) and Cantare (Grades 5–8)—offer the invaluable gifts of musical literacy and a deeper understanding of God’s love. Meeting Wednesdays from 5:00–5:45 pm, they sing at monthly Family Services, Christmas Eve, Easter, and often join the Senior Choir for concert works with orchestra. Rehearsals focus on music reading, vocal technique, fun games, and building community.

The Galletly Scholars

Established in 2011, the Donald S. N. Galletly Scholarship supports dedicated young choristers at St. Elizabeth’s. Through the Royal School of Church Music’s Voice for Life program, children progress through vocal training and music theory levels, earning medals along the way. Those who show exceptional commitment may become Galletly Scholars, receiving funding to attend advanced summer music programs such as RSCM courses or Westminster Choir College. Scholars serve as Head Choristers and, upon joining the Senior Choir in ninth grade, take on special leadership and performance roles.
