Fall Cherub Rehearsal Announcement  Next fall, the Cherub Choir will meet on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:00 pm.  It looks from our survey as though this time will serve the greatest number of interested families and also keep our current members able to participate.  Thanks to all who participated in the survey; your input, on scheduling issues and otherwise, was helpful and appreciated.

A Big Thank-You to all those parents and families who have supported the Children's Choirs this year.  You are what makes this wonderful and rewarding experience possible for children—let's keep doing it.

A Big Welcome  to the children who have joined us during the Choir trial period. George Shepherd and Samuel Strauss have joined the Junior Choir; Abby Coviello, Daisy Liljegren, Samuel Kilinski, and Aidan DeGooyer have sung with the Cherubs.

Mark Your Calendars for the Fall!  The Choir Opening Party/Rehearsal will be on Wednesday, September 10.  Cherubs (Gr. K-2 plus 4's who are ready) meet from 4:30 - 5:00 pm; Junior and Youth Choirs (Gr. 3-5 and 6-8) meet from 6:00-7:00 pm.  Make Choir a priority in your child's fall schedule and help us build a thriving program.  See you in the fall!

Choirs For Children: The music program for children teaches young people to lead worship and to develop their own musical abilities in an atmosphere of fun and fellowship. The goal of the program is to discover together the joy of worshiping God through music and to experience the great satisfaction that comes with performing music beautifully and with care. There are three choirs for children, each with age-appropriate music and activities:

Kindergarten - Second Grade: The Cherub Choir develops a wide range of musical skills with singing, rhythm drills, Orff ensemble and movement to music. They lead the singing in the Children's Chapel service each week and sing at Family Services, which are scheduled about once a month. They rehearse on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:00 pm.

Third - Fifth Grade: The Junior Choir develops basic choral singing technique and learns to read music. They rehearse good quality children's repertoire, develop part-singing skills, and learn basic classical repertoire as well. The choir rehearses on Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. They robe and process at most services and sing at the Family Service once a month.

Sixth - Eighth Grade: The Youth Choir adds their experience and support to the Junior Choir. They function as section leaders for the younger choir and occasionally perform on their own. They rehearse with the Junior Choir on Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. They robe and process weekly and sing at Family Services and on other selected occasions.
