Outreach Grant Recipients
Aids
Resource Center
- ARC was formed in 1989 to work with people infected with and
affected by HIV/AIDS. ARC is a non-profit public mission of the
Diocese of Newark serving Newark and surrounding communities.
Most families served are poorly educated and live below the
poverty level. ARC provides pastoral care, counseling, workshops
and provides 140 hot meals a day.
Apostle's
House
- Apostle's House main mission is to provide comprehensive
social services to homeless and "at risk" families. Support
includes Emergency Shelter for Families, Transitional Housing,
Rooming Houses for Single Men, Multigenerational Program, Food
Pantry, Clothes Pantry, Housing Relocation Program and many
different Educational and Development Programs.

Community
Meals Inc.
- Community Meals (known as Meals on Wheels) is a not-for-profit
organization which provides two meals a day, five days a week,
for people in the Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Midland Park and Ho-Ho-Kus
area, who need the meals for either medical or social reasons.
The grant is used to pay the subsidies for their clients who are
unable to pay the full cost of the program.

Christi Ministries Housing
- The Corpus Christie Ministries provide housing and care for
AIDs patients. This program is provided by the Jersey City
Episcopal Community Development Corporation.
Emanuel
Cancer Foundation
- Emmanuel Cancer Foundation is a not-for-profit public
foundation established to preserve the quality of life for and
New Jersey family whose child has cancer. Services are offered
at no charge to the family, and include professional counseling,
advocacy service, material assistance and limited emergency
financial relief.

Community Development
- This program enables low income, first-time homebuyers to buy
a two family house which has been totally rehabilitated, is in
excellent condition, and is affordable. ECD provides homebuyer
training and credit and budget counseling, in order to reduce
defaults.

- Formerly known as the Presiding Bishop's Fund, the ERD
supports communities throughout the world especially at times of
major disasters. It is funded entirely by donations from
individuals and congregations.
Interreligious
Fellowship for the Homeless - The IRF is an all volunteer organization to support
the homeless in Bergen county. Their programs include the
Emergency Family Shelter (known as Fellowship House),
transitional apartments, a thrift shop, and the Youth Council
which runs a day camp for two weeks for children in any shelter
in Bergen County.

North
Porch- North Porch is an emergency service providing four-day
supplies of formula, baby food, diapers, clothing, and bed
linens for needy mothers and infants in the Newark and Paterson
areas. North Porch is a project of the Episcopal Church Women
organization in the Diocese of Newark and serves women of all
faiths.

Regional Early Intervention Collaborative
- The Collaborative is a not-for-profit organization
providing services to children from birth to three years of age
who have severe developmental disabilities. Our grant supports
the Special Needs Fund to provide direct financial support to
families struggling to care for their children.

Forces
Oasis
- The Oasis is a ministry of the Diocese of Newark with lesbian
and gay people, their families and friends, which promotes
reconciliation between the lesbian and gay communities and the
church through evangelical outreach, pastoral care, education
and advocacy. Our grant is undesignated and supports the general
work of the Oasis.
Planned
Parenthood of Greater Northern New Jersey - PPGNNJ provides medical and educational assistance for
poor women in the Bergen County area. They operate medical
clinics in Hackensack, Dover and Elizabeth.
Planned
Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey Inc. - PPMNJ has six clinics in three counties (Passaic,
Essex and Hudson). Our grant provides assistance to their Family
Life Institute in Paterson that runs programs to educate
adolescents on pregnancy issues with the goal of reducing teen
pregnancy.

Elizabeth's Youth Work Trip
St.
Paul's Community Development Corp.- St Paul's Community Development Corporation mission
is to be a leader in addressing the critical social and economic
needs of the residents of Paterson by "Building Community One
Family at a Time." Programs that St. Paul's provides
include: Housing and Community Development, Emergency Food
Pantry, Men's Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing,
Adult Education, Services for Women, CityServe Youth Program,
AmenCorps, Next Step, and Job Development.
St.
Peter's Haven
- St. Peter's Haven in Clifton provides shelter and services
to homeless families in the Passaic County area. The Haven
provides transitional housing for the homeless, training on how
to deal with their lives, food, work and financial planning. Our
grant supports programs for pre-school children of these
families.

Phillips Academy
- St. Phillips Academy is an independent day school for K
through 8th grade. The school's mission is to prepare
inner-city (and often disadvantaged) children to succeed in
competitive independent secondary schools. .
Share,
Inc.
- Share operates two group homes in Ridgewood for 28 physically
and mentally independent seniors. Our grant supports seniors
without sufficient financial resources.
Social
Services Association of Ridgewood - SSA provides basic supplemental financial assistance
and case management services to individuals and families in
need. Services include support of child care, rent, utilities
and medical costs. SSA also runs a year round food pantry.
Valley
Hospice.
(Journeys Program) - Journeys serves children and adolescents
who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The program offers
emotional support, acceptance, companionship and education to
bereaved families.
West
Bergen Mental Health
- Our grant supports the West Bergen Center for Children and
Youth, a counseling, psychiatric and addiction treatment center
for young people ages 2 to 18 and their parents. Young people
who seek help are suffering from serious psychological problems
- depression, suicidal thoughts, alcohol and drug abuse,
phobias, eating disorders and anti-social behavior.

Rape Crisis Center
- The Center assists women and child victims and their families
cope with the trauma of sex related abuse. Many of the acts are
perpetrated by family members, relatives or friends which makes
the task of recovery very difficult. The staff of professional
psychologists, counselors and volunteers also conduct seminars
to inform the public about such abuses, how to help detect them
and where to seek aid.
