St. Elizabeth Church
Flower Memorials

Flower Memorials

St. Elizabeth’s has a long tradition of having flowers on the altar throughout the year, with special arrangements for Christmas, Palm Sunday, and Easter. These are all given either as a memorial for departed loved ones or as a thanksgiving for a special occasion such as an anniversary, baptism, or family wedding.

The cost of a memorial or thanksgiving is $25, which goes to the Altar Guild Fund. This fund provides all the flowers and decorations in the church, Chapel, and the building, as well as liturgical vestments, the altar linens, and the bread and wine used at the communion services. Please contact the Church Office at 201-444-2299, or e-mail the Parish Administrator at info@stesridgewood.org for further information regarding memorials and/or thanksgiving flowers.

St. Elizabeth's Traditions

Christmas Memorials

Our Christmas memorials provide all the poinsettias, greens, and bows used to decorate the church for the festive season of Christmas. If you have had a memorial in previous years and there is no change, there is no need to contact the office. The cost per memorial is $25. Checks should be made payable to St. Elizabeth's Church with “Christmas memorial” written in the memo area.

Poinsettia Delivery

St. Elizabeth’s has a wonderful tradition of sharing with parishioners the poinsettias which have adorned the altar for our Christmas services. Our eldest parishioners, as well as those parishioners who have lost a parent, brother, sister, son, or daughter in the past year, receive a poinsettia as a way of extending our thoughts and prayers to them during the holiday season. Individuals or families are invited to sign up to serve as “Poinsettia-bearers” who will deliver Christmas poinsettias to these parishioners.

The poinsettias will be available for delivery following the 10 a.m. service on Christmas Day; they may also be picked up from the Parish Hall. The poinsettias can be delivered any time during the Christmastide. They do not have to be picked up and delivered on Christmas Day.

This is a wonderful way to meet other parishioners in a simple, beautiful way and a great opportunity for families with young children to introduce their children to pastoral care. Please look for the sign-up sheet in the Parish House hallway.

Contact The Rev. Joan Conley for more information at jconley@stesridgewood.org.

Easter Memorials

At St. Elizabeth’s our altar is decorated on Easter Day with glorious lilies and hyacinths are given to all the Church School children. These plants are all given in memory of departed loved ones. If you would like to give a memorial for Easter Sunday, please contact the church office (201-444-2299 or info@stesridgewood.org). Anyone who has had a memorial in previous years does not need to contact the church office unless there is a change or you no longer wish to continue the memorial.St. Elizabeth's has a wonderful tradition of sharing with parishioners these lilies after Easter Sunday.  Our eldest parishioners, as well as those parishioners who have lost a parent, spouse, son, or daughter in the past year, receive a lily as a way of extending our thoughts and prayers to them during the holiday season.

Lily-Bearers at Easter

St. Elizabeth’s has a wonderful tradition of sharing with parishioners the lilies which have adorned the altar on Easter Sunday. Our eldest parishioners, as well as those parishioners who have lost a parent, spouse, son, or daughter in the past year, receive a lily as a way of extending our thoughts and prayers to them during the holiday season.

We ask individuals or families to sign up to serve as “Lily-bearers” who will deliver Easter lilies to these parishioners. This is a wonderful way to meet other parishioners in a simple, beautiful way; and a great opportunity for families with young children to introduce their children to pastoral care.
