Sharing Our Gifts
We all recognize the importance of sharing our ministry, providing a bond that defines and sustains us at St. Elizabeth's. There are countless ways, both big and small, that we can make a difference in the life of our parish the communities we serve.
As fall approaches and we start the new church year, we take time to consider how using our own talents and abilities can nurture our own spiritual lives and help to shape the life of the church and the larger community. Parishioner are asked to fill out a Time and Talent Pledge form, which helps to match time and talent with needs and opportunities in our church life.
There are a myriad of roles — both large and small — that we perform during the year. Becoming a member of a group such as the Outreach Committee or the Altar Guild, hosting coffee hour after a church service, preparing a meal for St. Paul’s Men’s Shelter, chaperoning a children’s choir activity, and teaching Sunday School are but a few of the ways in which we can put our faith into action, shape our community for the better, and become active, and not passive, Christians. There are opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, and interests, whether you can contribute a lot of time or just a few hours here and there. God invites us to imagine a better world; the church provides a setting where we can begin to give that dream visible substance.
At St. Elizabeth's, we ask that everyone reflect on how they might want to shape and support St. Elizabeth’s life and culture for the year to come — on how they might want to make even a small part of the world — in our parish, in our community, or in a larger setting—a better place.
Sharing Our Gifts and Making Parish Connections
This year's focus is on three areas that occur regularly, encourage interaction with others, do not require a tremendous time commitment, can be done by an entire family, and can be a great deal of fun! These are coffee hour, Parish Clean-Up Mornings, and ushering at church.
