Encouraging the Growth of Our High School Students
Next Meeting: September 16
Teen Outreach is a great way to contribute to the community in a fun and meaningful way and to develop skills that will help at school, in future careers, and in life.
Recent projects include stuffing and donating backpacks for Apostles’ House and Philip’s Academy, making quick-release safety bracelets for deployed service people overseas, cleaning up the Woodcliff Lake Reservoir in canoes, and helping organize food for the Social Services annual Thanksgiving Drive.
YPF for Sixth and Seventh Graders
Next meeting: Sunday, October 14
Future YPF dates: November 18, January 13, February 10, March 10, April 7
The YPF (Young People's Fellowship) is a youth group for grades 6 and 7 that encourages growth in two ways. First, its monthly parties give sixth and seventh graders social gatherings where they can enjoy fellowship while practicing consideration for others, social skills, and leadership skills. Second, the parties allow them to build the type of caring community that will make their experience in the eighth grade Confirmation program especially rewarding. They develop friendships not only with one another, but also with the Adult Advisors including the Rev. Joan Conley, who is in regular attendance. Each one is welcome to bring a guest to any YPF party. All YPF parties will require rsvp.
Six YPF “dinner ‘n games” parties are planned for Sunday nights from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The first, on October 14, is the YPF’s annual Why Wait for Halloween Party. An advance mailing will provide details and the Participation/Insurance Form that YPF-ers must bring when they come for the first time. Guests are welcome to attend any YPF party. Here’s hoping all sixth and seventh graders will be a part of the YPF’s fun, fellowship and growth this year.
