Please remember that St. Elizabeth's refreshes the list three times a year; the next time will be at Pentecost (Sunday, May 27 this year), the day we remember the gift of the Holy Spirit, which helps us to pray when we do not know how to pray ourselves (Romans 8:26-27).
As Pentecost approaches, please be in touch with the Parish Office to include a name on the Prayer List for the next season. There is no limit to how often a name may be added, nor is there any membership requirement for being on the list. Names may be put on for a specified period of time within the season of the list, and names may be removed at any time. Thanksgivings, as well as intercessions, are always appropriate for the Prayer List.
Occasionally Asked Questions
Every religious tradition has its own customs and practices. To one unfamiliar with these customs they can seem arbitrary or worse, but there is usually a reason behind them. Once understood, they can become a source of deeper experience and understanding. If you have questions of your own, e-mail The Rev. Cn. John Hartnett at jhartnett@stesridgewood.org and he will add them to the list.

Daily Morning Prayer
Monday - Friday at 8:30 a.m.
Location: Chapel
Could you use a few minutes of peace at the beginning of a weekday? Consider stopping in for Morning Prayer—either on a particular day of the week, or each weekday at 8:30 am in the Chapel. Lasting approximately 20 minutes, this simple, come-as-you-are service is done seated, has neither music nor preaching, and centers on the readings appointed for the day, two canticles, a psalm, and a few prayers. Leadership is shared between clergy and lay people. The prayers focus on schools, young people, and families; we chose this time so that we would be praying as children are making their way towards Willard School across the street. Dog walkers and their charges are welcome! Some people come most days, some come on a specific day of the week, some attend as they are able. The intent is for this service to be a quiet way to include prayer and scripture in your day or your week. If you are able to join this gathering, we hope you will.
Collects for Daily Use
If your schedule does not permit your attendance at Morning Prayer in person, please consider praying the two collects for each day at home or wherever you are. It is probably easier to have a regular time each day, but how you schedule this practice is of course your choice.

Healing Services
First and Third Wednesdays at Noon
Location: The Chapel
Healing services are held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at noon in the Chapel. The Parish Prayer List
Please notify the Church Office at 201-444-2299 to add a name.
If you would like to add a name or continue a name on our Parish Prayer List, please notify the Church Office. Please remember that we refresh our list three times a year: at the First Sunday in Advent, at the beginning of our Church year; at Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, the season in which prayer takes a special place in our spiritual lives, and at Pentecost, the day we remember the gift of the Holy Spirit, which helps us to pray when we do not know how to pray ourselves (Romans 8:26-27).
There is no limit to how often a name may be added, nor is there any membership requirement for being on the list. Names may be put on for a specified period of time within the season of the list, and names may be removed at any time. Thanksgivings, as well as intercessions, are always appropriate for the Prayer List. It is our custom to pray for people who have died for four Sundays following our receipt of the name.

This Sunday Worship, May 20: Seventh Sunday of Easter
O God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: Do not leave us comfortless, but send us your Holy Spirit to strengthen us, and exalt us to that place where our Savior Christ has gone before; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

10 a.m. Holy Eucharist, Rite I
On the Feast of Pentecost we remember the gift of the Holy Spirit. Tongues of flame are traditional images for the presence of this third person of the Trinity, and so the clergy will wear red stoles, the altar hangings will be changed to red, and we invite all of the members of the congregation to wear red on that day as well—we pray for the Spirit to come to us all!
Thursday, May 31: The Feast of the Visitation
6:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist
The Feast of the Visitation is the commemoration of the Virgin Mary’s visit to her older kinswoman Elizabeth (the Elizabeth for whom we are named), who was also pregnant with the child who was to become John the Baptist. The Visitation is the scene depicted in the new large stained glass window in the Altar Guild Sacristy, with Elizabeth standing in a stone archway reaching out to welcome and greet Mary who is almost to her door.
On Thursday, May 31, we will observe the Feast of the Visitation with a Eucharist at 6:30 am in the choir stalls. Coffee and blueberry muffins will be available following the service for those who can stay.
The Parish Prayer List will be Renewed for Pentecost
