The healing services
at St. Elizabeth's began as a result of discussions among members of the
Pastoral Care Committee, looking for ways to extend pastoral care to all
members of the Church, not just those who maybe in crisis at a
particular time or who are homebound. These services, held on the 2nd
and 4th Tuesdays of every month at 11:30 am, provide an opportunity
for a quiet mid-week Eucharist, with a time set apart during the Prayers
of the People for the celebrant to offer individual prayers, with
anointing, for those who desire them, either for themselves or on behalf
of someone not present.
In addition, we have healing prayers at the end of the 10:00 am service on the first
Sunday of each month. Those who would like to pray for a specific
concern may come to the communion rail, one at a time, for individual
prayer.
Christians have always believed in the
possibility of healing because Jesus made healing one of the most
important aspects of his ministry. In the Gospels, Jesus responds to
people who come to him in faith, seeing in him the potential for new
life--whether it is physical, emotional or spiritual life that they are
seeking. We believe that Jesus continues to respond to those who come to
him in prayer. If you have any questions
about
these healing services, please contact John Hartnett.
