The Rev. John Hartnett grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri and graduated from St. George's School in Newport, Rhode Island.  In 1973 he received a degree in English and American Literature from Harvard College and worked in publishing in Manhattan from 1973 until joining St. James' Church on Madison Avenue as their Director of Communications in 1979.

John received an M. Div. degree from Union Theological Seminary in 1987 and was ordained to the Diaconate by The Rt. Rev. Paul Moore of New York.  In 1988 The Rt. Rev. Desmond Tutu ordained him to the Priesthood at the Church of the Heavenly Rest in New York City. John became the sixth Rector of St. Elizabeth's in January, 1993.

Under his guidance the parish continues its evolution from the once-tiny neighborhood chapel to a diverse, lively community of faith. 

John is currently leading the new reconstruction of all the ancillary buildings of St. Elizabeth's.  The project will will include all classrooms, meeting rooms, offices, choir rooms, etc. Only the building housing the sanctuary will be excluded.

THE REV. LU-ANNE CONNERThe Rev. Lu-Anne Conner

The Rev. Lu-Anne Conner is a native of New England, and received her B.A. in American History from Connecticut College in 1984.  She worked in the insurance industry in southern Maine for several years, leaving in 1998 to attend seminary in New York City.  She received her M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary in May 2001, and was ordained to the diaconate by the Rt. Rev. Chilton Knudsen, Bishop of Maine, in June 2001. 

 Lu-Anne began her ordained ministry as clergy assistant at St. Elizabeth's in July 2001. On February 2, 2002, she was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Knudsen at St. Elizabeth's, on behalf of the Bishop of Newark.  Bishop Croneberger accepted her into the Newark Diocese at that time.

Lu-Anne's parish ministry includes a special emphasis on pastoral care.  In addition, she works with acolytes, middle-schoolers, the Outreach committee, and also shares an Anglican campus ministry at nearby Ramapo College. She greatly enjoys her opportunities for preaching, teaching, and liturgical leadership within the community of St. Elizabeth's.
